About Research Matters
Research Matters offers early career-stage researchers from academia and practice an opportunity to present their research in a setting similar to that of a peer-refereed conference but in a more constructive, supportive and non-confrontational atmosphere. The conference is also a chance for more established researchers from academia and practice to present their current work.
As well as paper and PechaKucha presentations, the programme, running over two half-days, will include a reception, networking drinks, time for discussions and an architectural tour.
Submissions for paper and PechaKucha sessions
Submissions are invited for both paper and PechaKucha sessions. Authors will be allotted 15 minutes for paper presentations and PechaKucha slots are fixed at 6 minutes, 40 seconds (strictly 20 slides, 20 seconds per slide).
Submissions for paper presentations should include the speaker's details, paper title and a summary/abstract of no more than 500 words describing the research question, methodologies, current stage of research and any findings to date. The best of these abstracts will be published in a special edition of the RIBA's annual Book of Abstracts, which offers a snapshot of current architectural research from around the globe, featuring all submissions from the President's Awards for Research 2019.
PechaKucha submissions must provide the speaker’s details and the theme of the presentation.
Research Matters is free to enter and submissions should be sent to research@riba.org before Friday 26 July 2019.
Successful applicants will be notified and asked to provide completed presentations before the event.
