Newly elected NDSA committee
On Wednesday 6th March 2019 the Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Society of Architects held their AGM at Palmer Court in Lenton. Names of the officers are listed below.
The committee is comprised of a group of nine, all from varying backgrounds with a healthy split of Derby and Nottingham based officers. A slate of five stood together, promoting a progressive, forward looking vision as outlined below, with four additional candidates combining to build a rounded and diverse team.
For innovative & equitable architecture
The Nottingham & Derby Society of Architects should be an inclusive organisation, representing the sum of its contributors.
Our ultimate ambition is that through rounded & progressive dialogues, our society can help to improve the places in which we live, our quality of life and the architectural profession as a whole.
Our Vision
To facilitate a drive towards equitable, sustainable, and quality driven public spaces.
The practice of good urbanism can establish a high quality of living, nurture a healthy & creative way of life, support economic, social, political and cultural activity and deliver robust, distinctive and attractive physical environments. Together, as a committee and as an architectural society, we can promote an equitable and environmentally sustainable living.
We want the NDSA needs to be a bottom up, not a top down organisation. It needs to reflect the values and the needs of its membership and of society at large. It is the students of architecture, it is those who work to become architects, and it is those who live in the buildings we design that must have the final say in what the NDSA is, and in what it does.
This committee will work hard to empower the NDSA membership, to offer networks of professional development and to build strong links with community and resident organisations as well as schools of architecture in Nottingham and Derby.
In the coming weeks the new group will be reaching out to people from all walks of life for contributions, suggestions and ideas.
A programme of activity is currently being procured that will promote cross-pollination of ideas and interests from different industries, professions and community organisations, centred around the values and principles backed vision.
